Dr. Morris specializes in therapy with individuals (adolescents and adults) and couples from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy perspective. This type of therapy focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in individuals while also taking into account various aspects of the individual’s environment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an empirically supported and problem-focused treatment, having been shown to be effective in treating a variety of mental disorders and emotional difficulties. Dr. Morris uses this theoretical approach in a variety of ways, tailoring the therapy to each client to improve emotion regulation, distress, tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This skills-based therapy teaches the individual how to manage stress, anxiety, mood, and a variety of other difficulties by teaching strategies and tools to cope. Dr. Morris takes a comprehensive and integrated approach by addressing sleep, eating patterns, and other lifestyle factors that can enhance the progress seen in therapy. Dr. Morris enjoys working collaboratively with psychiatrists and other physicians, teachers, and family members in an effort to increase the effectiveness of treatment and provide the individual with the best foundation for success.
